Government Reaffirms Commitment Against Terrorism

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi visited Bannu following the recent terrorist attack on the Fateh Khel Police Check Post. During the visit, he met injured police officers at District Headquarters Hospital and directed authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment without delay.

The Chief Minister praised the bravery and sacrifices of KP Police personnel, saying the force has continued to stand firmly on the frontlines in the war against terrorism for many years. He also visited the homes of martyred officers, offered condolences to their families, and assured them that the provincial government would fully support them during difficult times.

Educational Support and New Police Infrastructure

Mr Afridi announced that the government would cover educational expenses for the children of the martyrs in addition to the official compensation package already provided. He also revealed plans to construct a modern and fully equipped police station at the Fateh Khel Check Post to strengthen security in the area.

Pakistan’s space agency SUPARCO has predicted that Eid ul Adha 2026 is expected to be observed across the country on May 27, based on astronomical calculations related to the Zilhajj moon sighting.

According to the details shared by SUPARCO, the new moon of Zilhajj 1447 AH is expected to appear in the early hours of May 17. Experts believe the crescent will be visible later that evening in several parts of Pakistan, especially along coastal regions where weather conditions are usually more favorable for moon sighting.

The agency explained that the moon’s age and its visibility duration after sunset indicate strong chances of sighting the crescent on May 17. If confirmed, the first day of Zilhajj will begin on May 18, making Eid ul Adha likely to fall on May 27.

SUPARCO also clarified that the official announcement regarding the beginning of Zilhajj will be made by Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after receiving verified testimonies from across the country.

As the expected Eid date circulates online, many Pakistanis have already started preparing for Qurbani, Eid shopping, travel plans, and family gatherings.
