Government Reaffirms Commitment Against Terrorism

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi visited Bannu following the recent terrorist attack on the Fateh Khel Police Check Post. During the visit, he met injured police officers at District Headquarters Hospital and directed authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment without delay.

The Chief Minister praised the bravery and sacrifices of KP Police personnel, saying the force has continued to stand firmly on the frontlines in the war against terrorism for many years. He also visited the homes of martyred officers, offered condolences to their families, and assured them that the provincial government would fully support them during difficult times.

Educational Support and New Police Infrastructure

Mr Afridi announced that the government would cover educational expenses for the children of the martyrs in addition to the official compensation package already provided. He also revealed plans to construct a modern and fully equipped police station at the Fateh Khel Check Post to strengthen security in the area.

A jirga held at Bacha Khan Hall in Bannu brought together tribal elders, parliamentarians, officials, and community representatives to discuss the region’s security situation and future peace strategy. The Chief Minister stressed that long-term peace could only be achieved through unity, consultation, and cooperation among all sections of society.

Focus on Peace and Stability in KP

Addressing participants at the jirga, the Chief Minister expressed concern over the return of instability in the province and stated that thousands of civilians and security personnel had lost their lives due to years of violence and policy failures. He said the provincial government would continue taking strict action against elements involved in disturbing peace.

He further added that over Rs30 billion had been allocated to strengthen the police, Counter Terrorism Department, and Special Branch, with more funds expected in the upcoming development budget to improve security capabilities and modernize law enforcement.

Later, the Chief Minister also visited Hangu, where he met the families of victims affected by the Durrori Banda terrorist attack. During another jirga with tribal elders and religious scholars, he emphasized that restoring peace and protecting citizens remained the top priority of the provincial government.
