Deadly Blast Rocks Lakki Marwat Market, Several Killed and Dozens Injured

A powerful explosion ripped through a crowded marketplace in Lakki Marwat on Tuesday, leaving multiple people dead and dozens injured. According to local authorities, the blast occurred in Sarai Naurang after an explosive-filled rickshaw detonated in the busy commercial area, creating panic among traders and shoppers.

Police officials confirmed that at least nine people lost their lives in the incident, including two traffic police officers and a woman. Rescue teams quickly reached the scene and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals, while emergency services declared high alert across the district.

Hospital officials in Bannu stated that dozens of injured victims were brought in for treatment, with several reported to be in critical condition. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as smoke filled the market and people rushed to help the wounded.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the incident comes shortly after a deadly assault on a police checkpoint in Bannu where several security personnel were killed. Pakistani authorities had blamed the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) for that attack.

Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have continued to rise in recent months as security concerns increase along the border regions. Pakistani officials have repeatedly accused militant groups of operating from Afghan territory, while the Afghan Taliban administration has denied the allegations.

Security forces have launched investigations into the Lakki Marwat explosion, and additional checkpoints have been established in sensitive areas to prevent further attacks.
