Karachi Launches Major Polio Vaccination Campaign for Nearly 2 Million Children

Karachi has started a large-scale anti-polio campaign aimed at protecting almost 2 million children across the city. The campaign was officially inaugurated at Lyari Football Stadium by Mayor Murtaza Wahab, who emphasized the importance of vaccination in eliminating polio from Pakistan permanently.

Booster Doses and Polio Drops Across Karachi

Under this special drive, children aged between four months and 10 years will receive booster doses through polio drops and jet injectors. Vaccination teams have been deployed in residential areas, schools, hospitals, and community centers to ensure maximum coverage throughout Karachi.

Authorities Urge Parents to Cooperate

Mayor Murtaza Wahab appealed to parents to make sure their children, especially those under five years of age, receive polio drops during the campaign. He also asked citizens not to believe misinformation regarding vaccines and stressed that all vaccines used in Pakistan meet international safety standards.

Government Strengthens Efforts for a Polio-Free Pakistan

Health officials stated that hundreds of mobile and fixed vaccination teams are actively participating in the drive. Authorities believe public cooperation during the next two weeks will play a key role in helping Pakistan move closer to becoming completely polio-free.
