Apple is preparing a major design upgrade for the iPhone 18 Pro

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could introduce noticeable design updates, especially to the well-known Dynamic Island and overall body structure, according to recent leaks circulating in the tech world.

Smaller Dynamic Island Under Testing

Rumors about a reduced Dynamic Island are not new, but fresh reports suggest Apple is actively experimenting with different display designs. According to a well-known leaker, Digital Chat Station, the company is currently conducting A/B testing on two screen variations.

One version reportedly keeps the existing Dynamic Island design similar to the iPhone 17 Pro, while the second option features a smaller cut-out with Face ID components possibly placed under the display. If implemented, this could lead to a cleaner and more immersive screen experience.

Interestingly, the leak also mentioned that industry chatter — including comments from competitors like Samsung — has fueled speculation about Apple moving toward a more compact design. However, there is no strong evidence that such remarks directly influence Apple’s decisions.

Design Still Not Finalized

Supply chain sources indicate that Apple has not yet finalized which version will make it to production. While the leaker has a relatively reliable track record, some experts believe that testing this late in the development cycle is unusual, though still possible.

Changes to Materials and Rear Design

In addition to display updates, Apple is also expected to refine the back design of the iPhone 18 Pro. Reports suggest that the rectangular camera layout introduced in previous models will remain, but subtle improvements will be made to materials and finishing.

These changes are likely aimed at creating a more seamless appearance between the aluminum frame and the glass section used for wireless charging. The goal appears to be a more unified and premium look without drastically altering the existing design language.

What to Expect

While nothing is officially confirmed yet, these leaks point toward Apple focusing on refinement rather than a complete redesign. A smaller Dynamic Island, improved materials, and subtle aesthetic upgrades could define the iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
