The globally popular Fast & Furious franchise is officially heading to television as a brand-new live-action series is now in development for Peacock. The announcement was made during an NBCUniversal presentation in New York, where franchise star Vin Diesel confirmed that the action-packed universe will soon grow beyond the big screen.

According to Vin Diesel, fans have wanted deeper stories and more focus on beloved characters for years. He shared that the upcoming series will continue the franchise’s signature themes of family, loyalty, brotherhood, and high-speed action while exploring fresh storylines in a longer television format.

The project is being developed by Universal Television, with Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman attached as writers and co-showrunners. Vin Diesel will also serve as executive producer alongside long-time Fast & Furious producers Neal Moritz and Chris Morgan. While earlier reports hinted at multiple spin-off shows, the studio clarified that one main series is currently moving forward, with more ideas still under discussion.

This will become the first live-action television expansion of the Fast & Furious universe. Previously, the franchise released the animated series Fast & Furious Spy Racers on Netflix, which gained popularity among younger viewers between 2019 and 2021.

Since the release of The Fast and the Furious in 2001, the franchise has evolved into one of Hollywood’s biggest entertainment brands, earning over $7 billion worldwide. Its mix of street racing, explosive action scenes, global missions, and emotional storytelling has helped maintain a massive international fanbase for more than two decades.

Industry insiders believe the shift toward television is part of Peacock’s wider strategy to attract viewers through major film franchises. The longer episodic format is also expected to allow more detailed character development and interconnected story arcs than traditional films.

The cast details, storyline, and official release date have not yet been revealed. However, production is expected to continue throughout the year before filming officially begins.
