Authorities in Dera Ghazi Khan have launched a major operation against illegal LPG refilling businesses, sealing more than 24 unauthorized filling points across the district in an effort to improve public safety and prevent potentially dangerous accidents.
The joint operation was carried out by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) along with other concerned government departments. According to RTA Secretary Nazar Hussain, inspection teams visited multiple locations where LPG was allegedly being transferred into vehicle cylinders without following mandatory safety procedures.
Officials discovered that several refilling points were operating without meeting basic safety standards. During the inspections, teams also found workshops lacking essential firefighting and emergency equipment, while some operators were reportedly using expired or substandard materials during the LPG refilling process. Authorities believe such practices significantly increase the risk of fires, explosions, and other serious incidents.
As part of the crackdown, all identified illegal LPG filling points were sealed on the spot. Their owners received strict warnings against resuming unlawful operations, and financial penalties were imposed for violating safety regulations. Officials also took action against businesses accused of charging customers excessive prices for LPG refilling.
The administration has indicated that enforcement efforts will continue and that anyone found operating unauthorized LPG refilling facilities may face further legal action. Authorities have urged residents to use only licensed LPG stations that comply with government safety standards to help reduce the risk of accidents.
Illegal LPG refilling has remained a concern in different parts of Pakistan due to the serious safety hazards associated with unauthorized fuel handling. Government agencies have repeatedly conducted operations against such businesses in various districts to improve compliance with safety regulations and protect the public.
The latest operation in Dera Ghazi Khan reflects the government’s continued focus on enforcing safety rules, improving regulatory oversight, and discouraging illegal business practices that could endanger both motorists and nearby communities. Authorities have encouraged citizens to report suspicious or unauthorized LPG refilling activities so timely action can be taken.
