Meta Muse Image Launches With Advanced AI Editing and Search Features
Meta Muse Image has officially launched as the latest artificial intelligence image generation model developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs. Alongside the release, Meta also introduced a preview of Muse Video, its upcoming AI-powered video generation model. According to the company, the new models are designed to improve image creation, editing, and multimedia generation by combining reasoning, web search, coding tools, and iterative self-improvement.
Muse Image is now available through the Meta AI app and on Meta.ai. It is also rolling out to Instagram Stories in the United States and to WhatsApp in selected countries, with Facebook support planned for a future release. Muse Video remains in preview and is expected to become available to creators and Meta AI users at a later stage.
Meta Introduces a New Generation of AI Media Models
According to an official Meta announcement, Muse Image represents the company’s most advanced image generation system to date.
Unlike traditional text-to-image models that generate an image directly from a prompt, Muse Image has been designed to function as an AI agent. It can reason through tasks, access external tools, refine its own work, and improve image quality before producing a final result.
Meta says this approach helps the model better understand complex instructions while producing more accurate and detailed images.
AI Model Uses Search and Coding Tools
One of the key features of Muse Image is its ability to use external tools during image generation.
According to Meta, the model can perform web searches to gather factual and up-to-date information when responding to prompts involving current events, public knowledge, or real-world subjects. This is intended to improve factual accuracy and reduce mistakes in generated content.
The model can also write and execute code to create charts, graphs, QR codes, and other structured visual elements before incorporating them into generated images.
Meta says these capabilities allow Muse Image to complete tasks that go beyond conventional image generation.
Self-Refinement Improves Image Quality
Meta explained that Muse Image can review and improve its own work before presenting the final output.
Depending on the prompt, the model may make small edits to correct details, regenerate an image entirely, or use available tools to improve factual accuracy.
According to the company, this self-refining behavior emerged during reinforcement learning training because it consistently produced better results rather than being manually programmed.
More Computing Time Produces Better Results
The company also stated that Muse Image benefits from additional reasoning time during image generation.
Rather than simply producing multiple image variations and selecting the best one, Meta says the model achieves better results by spending more computing resources on reasoning, planning, tool use, and refinement before completing the image.
According to the company, combining reasoning with external tools delivers greater improvements than relying on either approach alone.
Advanced Image Editing and Multi-Reference Support
Meta says Muse Image is capable of making highly targeted edits while preserving the rest of an image.
The model also supports iterative editing, allowing users to refine images through multiple rounds of instructions without losing consistency.
Another notable capability is multi-reference image composition.
Users can combine multiple reference images—including people, clothing, objects, artistic styles, and environments—alongside written prompts to generate a single composite image.
According to Meta, this enables more complex creative workflows than traditional image generation systems.
Muse Video Preview Announced
Alongside Muse Image, Meta shared an early preview of Muse Video.
The upcoming AI model is built on the same underlying technology and is designed for text-to-video generation with native audio support.
Meta says Muse Video delivers strong prompt accuracy, visual quality, and temporal consistency while continuing work on improving fast-motion realism and synchronization between video and audio.
The company stated that Muse Video will become available to creators and Meta AI users in a future release.
AI-Generated Content Includes Invisible Watermark
To improve transparency around AI-generated media, Meta has introduced a system called Content Seal.
According to the company, every image created with Muse Image through the Meta AI app or Meta.ai contains an invisible watermark that remains embedded even if the image is cropped, resized, compressed, or captured through screenshots.
Meta also previewed a detection tool that can identify whether an image contains a Content Seal watermark.
The company says it plans to extend the same technology to AI-generated videos in the future.
Availability Across Meta Platforms
Muse Image is currently available through several Meta products.
Users can access it today in:
- Meta AI app
- Meta.ai
- Instagram Stories in the United States
- WhatsApp in selected countries
Meta says Facebook integration is planned for a future update.
Meanwhile, Muse Video remains in preview and has not yet received a general public release date.
Why the Launch Matters
The release of Muse Image highlights Meta’s continued investment in generative artificial intelligence and creator tools.
By combining image generation with reasoning, web search, coding capabilities, and self-refinement, the company aims to improve both image quality and factual accuracy while expanding creative possibilities for users and businesses.
The addition of invisible AI watermarking also reflects the growing industry focus on transparency and content authentication as AI-generated media becomes increasingly common across digital platforms.
As Meta continues expanding these tools across its ecosystem, creators and businesses may gain access to more advanced AI-powered features for producing images, videos, and interactive content.
