Is the Gaza Ceasefire Losing Meaning?

Violence has once again shaken Gaza Strip as fresh Israeli air strikes reportedly killed four Palestinians and injured several others despite an ongoing ceasefire agreement.

The latest attacks have intensified fears that the fragile truce may be steadily collapsing, leaving civilians trapped between uncertainty, displacement and continuing military operations.

For many families in Gaza, one painful question continues to grow louder: if a ceasefire exists, why are people still dying?

Air Strikes Hit Central and Southern Gaza

According to medical and local sources, three Palestinians were killed after an Israeli drone strike targeted an area near a food distribution centre in Deir al Balah.

Eyewitnesses said the strike occurred close to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, where civilians had gathered in search of aid and supplies.

Another Palestinian was reportedly killed in a separate drone attack in Khan Younis, while four others sustained injuries.

The latest violence comes amid continued tension despite international efforts to maintain calm in the region.

Israeli Military Activity Expands in Khan Younis

Residents and local witnesses also reported renewed Israeli military movement in Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis.

According to reports, Israeli military vehicles advanced into the area early Sunday morning while artillery shelling and gunfire were heard nearby.

Witnesses claimed Israeli bulldozers demolished several homes as military operations continued, forcing more families to flee toward central and western parts of Khan Younis.

For civilians already displaced multiple times during the conflict, the latest developments have added to growing fears of another humanitarian crisis.

What Is the “Yellow Line” in Gaza?

Local reports stated that Israeli forces pushed concrete barriers marking the so-called “Yellow Line” further westward.

The “Yellow Line” refers to a boundary established under a broader ceasefire and withdrawal arrangement linked to a peace proposal announced by Donald Trump.

The line separates areas under direct Israeli military control from locations where Palestinians are permitted to remain.

Any movement of that boundary is seen as highly sensitive because it changes the realities on the ground and can lead to further displacement of civilians.

Humanitarian Concerns Continue to Grow

The humanitarian situation inside Gaza remains one of the world’s most serious crises.

According to Gaza health authorities, more than 72,600 Palestinians — mostly women and children — have been killed since October 2023, while over 172,000 people have reportedly been wounded.

Even after the ceasefire officially took effect in October 2025, reports indicate that hundreds more people have been killed and thousands injured during continued military incidents.

International organisations and aid agencies continue warning about severe shortages of food, medical supplies and shelter across the territory.

Civilians Caught Between Conflict and Survival

The latest strikes once again highlight the daily reality facing ordinary people in Gaza.

Families searching for food, shelter or safety often find themselves close to military activity, while hospitals continue operating under enormous pressure.

For many residents, survival has become a constant struggle shaped by fear, displacement and uncertainty about what tomorrow may bring.

Can the Ceasefire Still Hold?

As air strikes, military movements and civilian casualties continue, concerns are growing over whether the ceasefire can survive in the long term.

Diplomatic efforts remain ongoing, but repeated violence is increasing doubts among both Palestinians and international observers.

The situation also raises broader questions about accountability, humanitarian protection and whether meaningful peace negotiations are still possible after months of devastation.

For now, Gaza remains caught in a cycle where ceasefires exist on paper — but conflict continues on the ground.
