Lahore Faces Another Day of Extreme Heat
Lahore residents continued to struggle with intense heat over the weekend as the city recorded temperatures around 40°C. The scorching weather pushed the “feels like” temperature even higher, making outdoor activities uncomfortable for thousands of citizens. Even shaded areas offered little relief as warm winds and humidity added to the discomfort.
The ongoing heatwave has once again raised an important question: Is Pakistan heading toward a longer and harsher summer season this year?
What Does the Latest Weather Report Say?
According to the latest weather observations, humidity levels remained between 30 to 40 percent, creating slightly humid conditions indoors and outdoors. Winds from the western side continued to blow across the city, while the ultraviolet index stayed at a moderate level.
Meteorologists say continental air is currently dominating most parts of Pakistan, which is why dry and hot weather is persisting across the country. However, a weak western weather system is expected to enter upper regions soon, possibly changing conditions in some areas.
Rain Expected in Some Areas?
While Punjab’s central and southern districts are likely to remain extremely hot, some areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may receive rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds during evening and nighttime hours.
Meanwhile, hill stations including Murree and Galliyat are expected to stay mostly dry during daytime, though partly cloudy weather and isolated rain showers may develop later in the evening.
How Dangerous Can This Heat Become?
Health experts are warning citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during afternoon hours, especially under direct sunlight. Doctors also advise drinking plenty of water and avoiding dehydration, as rising temperatures can lead to heat exhaustion and other illnesses.
For many Pakistanis, this heatwave is becoming more than just a seasonal change — it is now affecting daily routines, electricity usage, travel, and overall public health.
Will Temperatures Rise Even Further?
Weather analysts believe the current hot spell may continue for the next few days, particularly in southern and central Punjab. Citizens are closely watching forecasts as concerns grow over rising temperatures across major cities.
Could this be one of the hottest starts to summer Pakistan has seen in recent years? The coming days may provide the answer.
